Lincoln International Adds Derek Cherney as Managing Director, Expanding Financial Sponsor Coverage Team

Lincoln International, a global investment banking advisory firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Derek Cherney as Managing Director in the firm’s Financial Sponsors Group. Derek’s hiring signifies a strategic expansion of Lincoln’s senior financial sponsor coverage team in anticipation of a projected resurgence in private market activity in 2026 and beyond. Derek brings nearly two decades of experience and an impressive set of deep relationships with private equity (PE) firms.

Prior to joining Lincoln, Derek was a Managing Director at TD Cowen, where he led the firm’s middle market financial sponsors practice. Earlier in his career, he held roles at William Blair, the Royal Bank of Scotland and CIT Group. Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College.
